The Father's Name

Everyone is probably familiar with the word ‘HalleluYah’

The word originates from the Hebrew language and is a transliteration of the Hebrew word:

הַלְלוּיָהּ = HalleluYaH

It is composed of two elements:

הַלְלוּ
The Hebrew verb hillel:

Meaning an exhortation to 'praise'

And

יָהּ
YaH being a shortened version of the Name of our Heavenly Father as Kind Dawid regularly used in his Psalms

The Old Testament Bible texts were mainly written in Biblical Hebrew with some portions (notably in Daniel and Ezra) in Biblical Aramaic. The word 'HalleluYaH' has remained the same in all languages and is known throughout the world. The term is used 24 times in the Bible specifically in the book of Psalms.

YaH?

As recently mentioned YaH is the shortened form of the Name ‘YaHuWaH' (YHWH)’
the Name of the One and only Creator of all

It may surprise you to know that the Name of our Creator - YaHuWaH -
is written down nearly 7000 times in Scripture!

However, in nearly every case the translators decided to use the word 'LORD’ instead of His Name:

If you check out the preface of your Bible it will tell you that the translators decided to replace the Almighty's Name with the common title of  'the Lord!'

(click here to see the preface of a NIV Bible)

Here is an example of Psalm 23 taken from an English Bible:

It should read:

'YaHuWaH is my Shepherd...'

But is has been replaced! The Name of our Creator is not ‘the LORD' or ‘GOD’

Only in a few places in our English Bibles has the Name of our Creator been kept in its proper form.

Let's take a look...

For example; here is a copy of Psalm 68 from an English KJV Bible

One of the few places in the translation that kept the Name YaH. However in newer English versions it now reads ‘By His Name ‘the LORD’

If we look at very early manuscripts we can see the Name of YaHuWaH in its Paleo Hebrew form as discovered in the incredible dead sea scrolls pictured here

Yod, Hey, Waw, Hey written in Paleo Hebrew
(from right to left)

Originally there were no vowels in Hebrew

Here YHWH (without vowels) is written in the different Hebrew forms:

Written in Paleo Hebrew pictograph we see an even more amazing picture of our Creator! Each Hebrew letter has a pictograph symbol with different meanings. In the English translation from Paleo Hebrew pictograph this can be understood as:

"Behold! The hand that brings life through the nail!"

How AMAZING is that!?

The third commandment tells us:

'You shall not take the Name of the Almighty YaHuWaH in vain; for YaHuWaH will not hold him guiltless.' Exodus 20:7

The word 'in vain' in Hebrew is the word ‘shav’ and literally means ‘nothingness'. To remove the personal Name of the Almighty YaHuWaH, and mask it with 'the LORD' or 'GOD' truly brings His name to nothingness

Jeremiah 23:26,27 says:

“How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; which think to cause My people to forget My Name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten My Name for Baal”

If you look up the name 'Baal' - the Phoenician pagan deity (remember Elijah and the prophets of Baal!) you will find that it is a Hebrew word and means 'Lord'

So, if you translate the text fully into English, the last sentence would read:

"as their fathers have forgotten My Name for the Lord"

The Name of the Almighty has been known for a long long time, so why do Bible translators continue to substitute His Name? Could it be something to do with money?

The Secretary of the Management Committee of the NIV - Edwin H.Palmer Th.D.  gave an interesting reason when he was asked why the Name "YaHuWaH" was omitted from this translation.
He explained:

"Here is the reason why we didn't use it. You are right when you said that "YHWH" is the divine Name for God, and we should use it. But this translation cost us $2.5Million. A sure way to throw it in the water is to translate Psalm 23: “YHWH is my Shepherd". Nobody would use our translation”.

It seems translators have not listened to Messiah's words in Mark 7:

“You leave the commandment of the Almighty and hold to the tradition of men".  And he said to them "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of the Almighty in order to establish your tradition!"  Mark 7:8,9

Another vivid testament to the Name of YaHuWaH is the names of many prophets in Hebrew which contain the Name YAH:

YeremiYAH (Jeremiah) meaning YaHuWaH has uplifted

YeshaYAHU (Isaiah) means YaHuWaH is salvation

EliYAHU (Elijah) means my El (Mighty One) is YaHuWaH

ObadiYAHU (Obadiah) means the servant of YaHuWaH

ZephaniYAHU (Zephaniah) means YaHuWaH has concealed

(There are many more)

This is by no means an exhaustive study so I implore you to  look further into this important topic for yourself

It seems that these words in Jeremiah 16 are coming to pass right now!

Jeremiah 16:19-21

“O YaHuWaH, my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction. The Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and shall say “Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity and things wherein there is no profit”. Shall a man make gods for himself, and they are no gods? Therefore, behold! I will this once cause them to know. I will cause them to know My hand and My might; and they shall know that My Name is YaHuWaH"

If we love our Heavenly Father surely we would want to find out the truth and use His precious Name
- YaHuWaH - the one He has revealed in scripture as       His Name FOREVER and for EVERY generation

Many have lived their lives honouring ‘the LORD’ and they may respond by saying: "I didn’t know" or "It doesn’t really matter, He knows our hearts"

This is true, we may not have known, but now we do and we now have a choice to make.

'The Almighty said further to Moses "Say this to the people of Israel 'YaHuWaH' the Mighty One of your fathers, the Mighty One of Abraham, the Mighty One of Isaac and the Mighty One of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is MY NAME FOREVER, this is how I am to be remembered generation after generation"

Exodus 3 v 15

Will you continue in the traditions and lies of man? or search for the truth? Will you continue to forget the Father‘s Name and use nameless and common pagan titles? taking His name in vain?
