John Chapter 3 Verse 16

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in Him should not perish but possess everlasting life."

Christians frequently cite John Chapter 3 Verse 16 when discussing salvation and eternal life. So, let's examine it in the context of the entire chapter. According to Christianity, John 3:16 demonstrates that our heavenly Father loves us so much that He sent His Son to give us life and to establish a way for us to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son's blood shed on the tree or stake

First, let's examine the term 'Believe'. The definition of belief is 'to accept as true or real.' 'Pisteou', which means 'to have faith in but also be persuaded in', is the Greek word for 'Believe'. "I believe in the Almighty" or "I believe in the Son"—but what does that really mean? Does only knowing that He exists and is who He claims to be constitute belief? Not from a Hebraic standpoint. 'Aman' is a verb or action word in Hebrew and is translated as follows...

The King James Version of the Bible defines the verb 'Aman' as 'Belief, assurance, faithful, sure, established, trust, verified, steadfast, continuity, father, bring up, nurse, be nursed, assuredly, stand fast, and reliable'—all for a single word! The Hebrew word 'Aman' has the core meaning of 'to support or uphold'. According to Hebrew concrete reasoning, a tent should be built on solid ground so that even in the face of strong winds, the tent will stay sturdy when the pegs are driven in.

In Genesis Chapter 15 Verse 6 it is said about Abraham:

"And he believed (aman) in YaHuWaH; and He counted it to him for righteousness."

Abraham showed His belief in YaHuWaH by his actions and being obedient to YAH's voice as shown in:

Genesis Chapter 26 Verses 4 - 5

"And I will make your descendants numerous like the stars of heaven and I will give to your seed all these lands and all the nations of the land will be blessed through your seed because Abraham  HEARD  My voice and  OBEYED  my charge and My Commands and My decrees and My teachings."

This ties in with the rest of the chapter of John 3:

If you continue reading the passage, Verse 18 states that those who believe in Him will not be judged; however, those who do not believe will be judged because they did not believe in the NAME of the only begotten Son. As a result, we must trust in YaHuWaH's brought-forth Son, Yahushua. Verse 36 of the same chapter states:

"He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not OBEY the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."

So we must not only believe in the Son and His name but also obey Him. Abraham listened to YaHuWaH's voice and obeyed. We must remember that the Adversary/Satan believes in Yahushua but does not obey!

Revelation Chapter 14 Verse 12 confirms that our witness as believers is twofold:

"Here is the endurance of the set-apart ones (saints), here are those guarding (keeping) the Almighty's commandments AND the belief of Yahushua."

Belief in Yahushua, the only begotten Son of YaHuWaH, goes beyond simply knowing and accepting this fact. Our actions and obedience to Him reveal our belief in Him. Will you 'support' the Son of the Almighty not only with your thoughtsa Greek perspective—but also with your actions and in obedience—a Hebrew perspective?
